Registration is open for our favorite event of the year!
We are happy to announce that Tom and I will be presenting at RootsTech again next February. We have also been invited to be official ambassadors for the event, which means that we will have even more insider access to its goings-on (and a free pass to give away to a lucky winner)! We couldn't be more excited.
If you haven't been, or don't know about the RootsTech conference, let me introduce you.
RootsTech is the largest family history event in the world. It's also the most fun! Put away any ideas you may have about some boring gathering for die-hard genealogists who spend their days cranking away at microfilm reels in a dusty archive. RootsTech is a non-stop four-day celebration of family history, with things to see and do for all ages and all levels of experience.
In addition to over 200 classes to choose from on every family history-related topic imaginable, RootsTech attracts world-class musical entertainment and keynote speakers like Doris Kearns Goodwin and Laura Bush. (I was moved to tears last year by author Paula Williams Madison's account of finding her long-lost relatives in China.)
In the Expo Hall you can check out all the latest products and services available to help you find, preserve, and share your family stories. You can bring photos to scan (for free!) or record an oral history. This year, they will be adding a "Coaches Corner" where you can get some one-on-one family sleuthing from a professional genealogist, and "Heirloom Show and Tell," an "Antiques Roadshow"-type deal with experts on hand to tell you how much great-Grandpa's watch is worth. (Be sure to come by the Pictures and Stories booth to say hello, see some of the custom family history books we've created, and get some free coaching and ideas to help you preserve your family stories.)
We'll be bringing you more information in the coming months about RootsTech 2017. Even if you can't make it to Salt Lake City in February, many of the classes and events will be live-streamed with more available online after the conference. We'll keep you posted!
